Spring sewing

Recently, I’ve been feeling spring pull me away from knitting and toward the sewing machine. There are more finished objects to be shared in the coming days, but I’ll start with these burp cloths, which I made for our landlord and his wife, whose little guy arrived about three weeks ago.

I used this wonderful tutorial over at Sew She Sews, and found the directions straightforward (and amusing) and the final product plenty sturdy and absorbent. (Well, I didn’t try it, but it looked that way.) I love the idea of layering cozy flannel for softness with organic cotton diapers for soaking power. I’ll be making and gifting many more of these; they’re a great gift when the due dates creep up faster than I expect . . . as they always seem to.
